T’is the season! Face your fears with several spooky events taking place in Calgary, and if Halloween isn’t your thing, explore the thrills of art celebrating mountaineers and adventurers.

2018 will be the 13th and final year of Screamfest - your last chance to experience Calgary’s scariest and most diverse Halloween event. Screamfest runs on October 25 to 28, 30, and of course, on Halloween itself, October 31st. Try and walk through multiple haunted houses and stomach Clown Town, Bates Motel and the unknown in the “What Lurks in the Dark” house. You can also try escape rooms, carnival games and rides. October 25 is adults only night if you don’t want to scream in front of the kids. Hosted with the Grandstand Building in Stampede Park, general admission is $30 which will give you access to all six haunted houses

Grim Manor

If you haven’t gotten your Halloween fix yet, have no fear there’s more. The Grim Manor recently moved to a larger venue, WinSport Canada’s Olympic Park, the most visible legacy from the 1988 Olympic Games. The larger venue will feature three spooky attractions: the titular house of horrors Grim Manor, a new Salem-themed funhouse and an all-ages animated 3D haunted house called Grim's Haunted Adventures. Tickets are $20 and the Grim Manor runs until Halloween. Be sure to check online for dates and times

TELUS Spark Halloween Party

Looking to do it up big for only one night? On Oct. 27 dress in your finest costume and head over to TELUS Spark Science Centre for a Halloween party. The science centre will be open until 1am for anyone over 18 and will include a mad science lab of horror, a “Thriller” dance lesson, silent disco party and more. Admission is $75 and includes food, access to all galleries and a chance to see TELUS Spark like never before. Check out more details before commiting to a costume!

Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival

Halloween not your thing? From October 27 to November 4, explore the best mountain films, books and speakers at the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival. There will be over 75 films, free events, panel discussions and exhibitions celebrating mountaineers, adventurers and the sights of the great outdoors from across the globe. Tickets are now on sale and a full schedule is available online so you can better plan your festival time!
