One of the best things about summer is going to awesome music festivals. There are plenty of great musical events happening all around Calgary this summer, and we’ve rounded up just a few of many for you to check out in YYC:
This summer festival organized by JazzYYC has plenty of free and ticketed shows for jazz lovers to enjoy. The performances are scattered along Calgary’s ‘Music Mile’ in various venues from concert halls to clubs, and more. There’s even an annual JazzWalk on the final Sunday of the festival. Stay tuned to the JazzYYC website to get more details on the shows in this summer’s lineup.
Sled Island has been a staple event of summer in Calgary since 2007. This eclectic independent festival is always undeniably cool, with not just music but also lots of comedy, film, and art to check out. Previous years’ festivals have featured over 250 shows over 5 days of programming, with over 30,000 guests in more than 30 venues. It’s an awesome way to check out Calgary’s arts and culture scene. This year’s lineup is already full of heavy-hitters such as Julien Baker, Japanese Breakfast, Rapsody, and many more.
This annual outdoor music festival boasts world-class entertainment and internationally acclaimed artists - and you can expect no less in 2019! This year’s performers include Billy Idol, Blondie, Headstones, and Doug and the Slugs. The festival takes place during the famous Calgary Stampede (on from July 5th to 14th, 2019) and is an awesome addition to any Stampede experience.
